Breaking News: Subsidised Exercise Physiology Services for Young People with Complex Neurodevelopmental Disorders

At Rebound Health, we are committed to making exercise accessible for everyone. That’s why we’re excited to share some fantastic news from Exercise & Sports Science Australia (ESSA): from 1st July 2025, young individuals with complex neurodevelopmental disorders will have access to subsidised exercise physiology services.

What Does This Mean?

  • Young people with complex neurodevelopmental disorders will now have better access to evidence-based exercise interventions.

  • Services can be accessed in multiple ways, including face-to-face sessions, video consultations, phone calls, and time-tiered case conferences.

  • This initiative recognises the critical role of exercise physiology in supporting young individuals with neurodevelopmental conditions, helping them build strength, coordination, confidence, and overall well-being.

Why Is This Important?

For many young people with neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism, ADHD, and intellectual disabilities, access to structured exercise can be challenging. Traditional gym or sports environments may not always cater to their needs, and private services can be financially out of reach for many families.

Subsidised access to exercise physiologists means: ✅ More inclusive opportunities for movement and physical activity. ✅ Improved health outcomes including better motor skills, reduced anxiety, and enhanced social participation. ✅ Greater accessibility through telehealth and flexible service options.

How Rebound Health Can Help

At Rebound Health, we have a dedicated team of exercise physiologists experienced in working with young people with neurodevelopmental disorders. Our programs focus on:

  • Fun, engaging, and structured exercise sessions tailored to individual needs.

  • A sensory-aware approach to ensure a comfortable and positive experience.

  • Collaboration with families, schools, and healthcare providers to create a holistic support network.

We believe movement is for everyone, and this new initiative is a massive step towards making exercise more accessible to those who need it most.
