Does This Sound Like You?

You’re tired of feeling limited by pain, stiffness, or injury.

You’ve tried exercising on your own, but it’s overwhelming or leads to setbacks.

You want to stay active, healthy, and independent—but you’re not sure where to start.

It’s frustrating to feel like your body is holding you back, but it doesn’t have to stay that way.

Exercise Rehabilitation & Personalised Training

Exercise can be one of the most helpful things you do for your health. It can also feel confusing when you are unsure what is appropriate for your body, your history, or your current condition.

This service is built around the idea that exercise should be guided in the same way as any other part of healthcare. Rather than generic workouts or self-directed programs, you work with a university-qualified Exercise Physiologist who understands how to use movement to support pain management, chronic conditions, recovery, and long-term function.

The aim is not simply to improve fitness. The aim is to help you move more comfortably, build strength safely, and feel more confident in everyday life.

Who this service supports

Many people arrive feeling unsure about exercise. They may have been told that being active will help, but have never been shown what that looks like in a way that feels safe.

This service is well suited to people who:

  • Experience ongoing aches, stiffness, or pain that affects daily activities

  • Live with health conditions such as arthritis, osteoporosis, diabetes, heart or lung concerns

  • Are returning to activity after injury, surgery, illness, or a long period of inactivity

  • Feel hesitant about exercising without professional guidance

  • Want to improve strength, balance, and mobility in a way that is appropriate for their body

You do not need to be fit or experienced with exercise to begin. You simply need a willingness to start at a level that suits you.

Your first appointment

Your initial session is focused on understanding how you move and what you would like to achieve.

This includes a detailed discussion about your health history, current concerns, and any previous experiences with exercise. We then complete a movement assessment to understand your baseline strength, balance, mobility, and any areas that may need extra care.

Before you leave, you will have a personalised exercise plan and a clear idea of how to begin. You will not be left to work things out on your own.

Ongoing sessions

As you continue, sessions focus on guided exercise with close attention to technique and progression.

Programs typically include a combination of:

  • Strength training to support joints, bones, and muscles

  • Balance and coordination work to improve steadiness and confidence

  • Mobility exercises to reduce stiffness and improve movement quality

  • Cardiovascular exercise where appropriate for your health and goals

Everything is progressed gradually, based on how you are responding. The intention is to build capacity without causing flare-ups or setbacks.

How this differs from standard personal training

While personal training often focuses on general fitness or aesthetic goals, exercise physiology is centred on health, safety, and function.

Your program is built with consideration of:

  • Existing medical conditions

  • Pain patterns and injury history

  • Medication, surgery, or rehabilitation needs

  • Long-term independence and quality of life

This is structured, evidence-based exercise designed to support your body, rather than challenge it in ways that are unhelpful or unsafe.

A supportive environment

Many people find it reassuring to exercise in a clinical setting where equipment, space, and supervision are designed for this type of work. You are not expected to know what to do. You are guided at each step.

Over time, people often notice that everyday tasks feel easier. Walking, lifting, carrying, climbing stairs, or getting up from the floor can feel more manageable. Just as importantly, confidence with movement tends to return.

Getting started

You do not need a referral to begin. You are welcome to book directly.

For those using NDIS funding, we are a registered provider and can support you within your plan.

FAQs About Exercise Physiology

  • Exercise Physiology is a specialised discipline that applies science-backed principles to understand how our bodies respond to physical activity and exercise. The comprehensive scope of this field extends beyond the realm of general fitness, delving deep into the biological and physical reactions at play in both healthy and diseased states. This allows exercise to maintain health, manage chronic conditions, and improve physical performance.

An Exercise Physiologist plays a pivotal role in this field. They aren't your typical fitness trainers. Their in-depth knowledge and honed skills equip them to design tailored exercise programs which account for your unique health status, fitness levels, and personal aspirations. This customised approach to exercise ensures you can achieve your health goals safely and efficiently.

Whether you aim to manage chronic pain conditions like fibromyalgia and arthritis, recover from sports injuries through exercise rehabilitation, improve heart health, or control conditions like diabetes and obesity, Exercise Physiology offers the science-led pathway to reach these targets. Moreover, we help manage diseases such as Type 1 & Type 2 diabetes and obesity by providing practical strategies for weight loss.
