Womens Health for NDIS participants

At Rebound we provide a lot of support for people on the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
We aim to do this from a Multidisciplinary approach and addressing all areas of an individual’s life and well-being. Something that is often missed within someone’s care is Pelvic Health concerns.

A Womens Health Physiotherapist is trained to provide specialized training within this area.
Things that a Womens Health Physiotherapist can help with are incontinence, pelvic floor weakness or pelvic girdle pain.

Why Womens Health is extra important for the NDIS

The reason that this is important in the context of NDIS participants is that there are a variety of conditions that put women at higher risk of developing these pelvic dysfunctions. Individuals that are often at risk of continence challenges are those:

- On Antipsychotic medications

- With a progressive neurological condition (Eg. Parkinsons, Brain Injury, Multiple Sclerosis)

- Aged Care

Incontinence is a large reason for increased care needs, difficulty engaging in the community or work and decreased independence. It is vital to an individual's well being that they receive care for this basic health care need.

If this sounds like it might be applicable to yourself or a loved one, Rebound are here to help.
Our team of Womens Health Physiotherapists (with an NDIS background) can provide a compressive assessment to provide education to the client, a treatment plan, and recommendations to supporting clinicians such as Exercise Physiologists and support workers on how to incorporate this into their current care plan and therapy sessions. Following on from this it is likely recommended that the individual receive quarterly reviews.
This would be determined on a case by case basis.
