Assistive Technology
Rebound Health is a registered NDIS provider of Assistive technology.
We are committed to assisting our clients to get the equipment that they need.
The NDIS provides people with a permanent and significant disability, their families and carers, assistance to help that person in their daily life and help them increase their independence and participate in the community. Our products and services give people with a disability the support they need to live safely and independently, at home, at work or in the community.
We make sure that you get the support you need, then ensure it’s safe, effective and it helps!
To achieve greater independence and safety, there are a number of assistive technologies that offer simple solutions to everyday activities. As every individual interacts with their environment differently, we can help you find the right solutions that make daily tasks safer and easier – whilst also ensuring they help you achieve more independence. Assistive technology can be anything ranging from help opening taps through to more complex and specialist technology such as a power wheelchair.
What is Assistive Technology?
Acquiring and using equipment that promotes more independence, safety and compliments your journey is an important and often complicated process.
Because we understand the functional concerns of our clients, their families and carers (if involved), we can apply our specialised knowledge to recommend suitable equipment that enhances independence and helps make daily tasks easier.
Our broad knowledge of different equipment and equipment providers helps us to narrow down what equipment best suits your needs. This enables us to trial a smaller range of options and help you find the perfect solutions that interact with each other effectively. We work closely with the client to identify the most suitable option and provide the clinical evidence to assist the participant to access funding for complex equipment.
Assistive technology can include:
Aids for daily living activities for example, dressing aids, modified cutlery, utensils and crockery, personal hygiene aids, pencil holders.
Aids to assist with showering and toileting including basic shower chairs and over toilet frames to specialised commodes.
Aids to assist with functional transfers including grab rails and threshold ramps through to floor or ceiling hoists and slings.
Seating and positioning for example, wheelchair seating systems, profiling beds, pressure cushions and mattresses, positioning belts and braces.
Mobility aids for example, power and manual wheelchair assessment and provisions, modification of vehicles for travel with a mobility aid.
Adaptation of equipment for recreational activities for example adaptive controls for video games, seating systems for boats, bikes, lawnmowers, cuffs to assist with grasping.

Your therapist will chat with you about your condition and the impact it has on your everyday life. They might ask about the equipment you have trialled in the past and what has/hasn’t worked. You will then collaborate to identify what areas of concern you have in your home and what equipment pieces can assist you to stay safe and maintain independence in your home or external environment.
